What kind of injectors are these?

What kind of injectors are these?

Hi,
I purchased these injectors in May and received them in
Aug. I finally tried to install them today (that's another post) and it appears they will not fit in my truck. The box says they are for my truck but they don't look like the injectors in my truck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Those sure look like regular ol 24valve injectors to me. Are they bigger than the stock ones? Might be from a 8.3ISC but they look right to me? You have to "pop" them down into the head so they'll seat which takes a little force?

It appeared the non-injector end would even fit into the hole. I just stuck the larger end up to the hole the injector goes into and it appeared to be too large. I didn't remove the existing injector and try to stuff it in though.

I will attach another pix

Pull a stocker out and compare it to the new one, its easy and a surefire way to see if they're the same.

The light gray "upper" portion of the injector looks a tad big in diameter but thats probably because its so clean. Looks like a normal injector.

The upper portion of the injector is almost 1 inch across, I don't believe the threaded nut that holds down the injector is that big.

Are you sure you are looking at the injector and not the cross flow tube? Do you have the valve cover off to access the injectors??
Just a thought

The injector is under the hold down plate which has the red "X" on it

For what it's worth I just replaced my injectors last weekend and that picture you posted looks exactly what I installed in mine. They fit just fine. By the way, where did you order them from?

Mishkaya, they are the same. LOL!!

They will fit just fine java.

You might consider a service manual to help you along with the install.

Ah! The light goes off! Thanks 'Cummins4Life', silly me I thought the injectors were what the input tubes connected to. I didn't realize I had to get to them under valve cover. My bad. The only experience I had with injectors before were with my rabbit diesel and they were 'right there'. And yes Don I should get a manual.

Thanks again for all of your help.

-Pete

PS. I was wondering how I would get the last injector out

Patients, Patients, and more Patients.

Taking the injector out is easy, taking the lifting bracket off so you can get to the injector is the hard part.

Do a search on installing injectors. There are some really good detailed instructions out there.

Also getting a cheap 3/4 or 19mm wrench and cutting the shank so you have about 1 1/2-2 in left on the open end helps on 5 and 6. Use a full size wrench to break them loose and the little one to do the rest. Also when removing/ installing the actual injectors, use a flat blade screwdriver to lightly pry the crossover tube away form the head. You'll see what I mean when you take the inj. line nut out of the head. This will make things a little easier.

I did a search and found one site with a description. It makes much more sense now that I know the injectors are under the vavle cover
I already ground down part of a 3/4 inch wrench to get at #2. There was not enough clearance between the head and the intake. I noticed the lifting bracket would be in the way too. Anyway, I am going to take pictures of the entire process and hopefully get those on a web site so other people don't look as stupid as I did
