What to do with my exhaust?
 

94 CTD factory exhaust still in place. Definitly time for some new hardware. Curious what ya'lls thoughts are on the issue. I don't have the cash to upgrade to 4" all the way, but love to some day. Will I be better off replacing the cat/muffler? What muffler - Twister? Straight-through? Is there a muffler out there that I can just bolt in w/o having to add/weld? Or will I be better off just straight piping?

Try this, straight pipe it now ( just replace the muff. with a 4 to 3 section at a muff. shop) see how you like it, and then you will know if you want a muff or not when you get a 4" exhuast:D . Thats what i did, straight section on stock system. Sounds perfect for me, dont even know if i realy want to spend the money on a full 4" system..............yea right:D :D :D I think i might get 5"[laugh]

Good looking stuff - I just don't want to part w/ the $$ for now. Kinda like to step that way first, just to see/feel the differenc.

If you still have the original exhaust on, it must be in very bad shape. The truth of the matter is, it would be much cheaper to go with a aftermarket 4" exhaust then to replace it with the stock exhaust. A cheap but complete system can be had for 300 dollars, and this would be an improvement over the stock one. The sound level is up to you,just pick a system that is suited to your taste. I never have like hack systems, they are piece mill and look the part. I don't know your situation, but 300 isn't that much for an exhaust system, and most would be on there 2nd or 3rd system by my, so you can look at it like you are way ahead.

I totally agree - I don't like hacks either. If I can do a complete 4" turbo back for $300, I would be OK with dropping that $. Any suggestions? I have looked at some on Ebay. Are they worth much? Will I be better off going to a mufler shop and having them do it?

Summit and Jegs both have a 4" turbo back kit for $299...

I totally understand the $$ thing, have that problem too! I would consider what the guys here are saying though, not necessarily the $300.00 dollar system idea but the replacement idea over factory parts or patching it up.

Our systems come with our Spiral Flow Muffler, a 5 inch rolled edge T-304 polished tip, 100% welded hangers that fit the stock rubber mount locations. The welded hangers and muffler are 100% T-304 stainless as we don't want to ever hear back from you concerning a warranty claim and those two areas are where you have the potential to have one. So if you add up those features and compare it against the 300.00 systems it's actually pretty cost effective, heck a 5 inch tip is $69.00 or more.
