This elbow delays boost pressure from opening your waste gate at the specified pressure. If you are not running enough timing and fuel controled by a chip to spool your turbo up to a pressure that will open the wastegate, there is no point having this elbow. An adjustable wastegate actuator is probably a better option when you get to that point.

That elbow allows your turbo to make more boost, although with stock fueling I doubt you need it. The problem is when the ecm sees the additional boost it starts throughing codes so the ecm needs some sort of a boost fooler ie a box. If/ when you buy a box for your truck it will come with one of these elbows so you don't need one now. You could just put a clamp on that little hose on the turbo and take it around the block if you want to see what more boost feels like. Better yet take off the intake hose and find the silencer ring in the turbo inlet and remove it with a screwdriver. It'll whistle more but it won't hurt anything

Without a Boost Fooler as stated above, your ECM will see too high of boost going into the intake, causing the truck to defuel its-self so that it comes down to the appropriate boost.

If you plugged the line, got that elbow and you were pushing 26 PSI lets say...without a fooler/box. You truck would then defuel the engine(and since it doesnt know the wastegate line is plugged/elbow) the defueling will cause less exhaust, so then your turbo will not be able to support as high as boost. Once down to the regulated 20.8PSI(stock wastegate) it would run like normal, any higher and it will defuel I believe.

I pinched my wastegate hose one day just to see with a pair of visegrips. Took it down the road and hauled on it (i do not have a fooler/box). The truck got so less powerful and more boring, it was horrible
