What changes torque powerband ?

I just added a #10 plate to my '97, I love the power change from stock (unbelievable ) but I have an issue with the powerband.
Truck does ok until 1700/1800rpms then kicks in very hard.
Is there any way to lower the rpm powerband ? I had a 24v and with a Van Aaken I had most of my power around 1400/1500 rpms up to 2200 then truck was flat. Since I tow quite frequently, I really like to have more torque than high rpm power.

And...yes my starwheel is full forward, # 10 plate not quite as much, I'd say 1/16" back.

not sure if you have an intake system, but opening that up will get air to the engine quicker and helps spool the turbo quicker, thus bring your power down maybe 100-200 rpms

I have a BHAF coming next week, I had that on the 24v too, I agree it will make a difference.

I ordered it from fleetfilter.com, I didn't want to spend $ 61.00 locally, it's cheaper shipped. I will build a shield for it, it helps a lot

is your timing stock? the higher timing tends to shift the powerband up in the rpm range, also your "star wheel" can be adjusted to bring on fuel sooner to give some more low end grunt.

Just my $.02

Ok the real thing to do here is adjust your governor arm. Yours is to low. You should have gauges. If you adjust to high your boost will go down. Adjust so you have about 34 lbs of boost. This page will help you.
