Water/Methanol Injection info

Seems like the old thread got ditched so keep the $ stuff on the PM's and ask the questions here.

Here is a install pic of my hat!

Re:Water/Methanol Injection info

I see it's missing. :)

Does Matt list any information on his diesel controller on his website? Can the pump run continually with the 625 nozzle? The controller is boost based, so I'm assuming that it doesn't turn the pump on fully at partial boost. Do the 625 nozzles atomize well when the pump is at say... 1/2 it's potential PSI?

thanks!
brandon.

No he doesn't have all the stuff for the site done on the diesels, the pump pulsates at the real low pressure setting but still atomizes very well and yes the 625 nozzles do a fine job of it. I'll give you and Idea of how well, at 3 inches sway from the nozzle the pattern is 6 inches wide, when I switched over to this setup from my old system that I build I had the same results with half the water....needless to say I was sold.

The pump will run continously with any size nozzle - it's the controller which poops out when the pump is set at high pressures with smaller nozzles. Matt told me they've got the fix comming out soon. The present controller will handle the pump at full pressure and a 625 nozzle all day long IMO.

My experience shows that the 625 nozzle is too large for any kind of continuous use any way - at least with straight water. My engine stumbled and lost power when pulling hard and injecting that much water.

At a half gallon per minute delivery rate, which the 625 delivers, you'd need a good size storage tank for any amount of continous use.

Hi Bart,

Are you using the system much now? How do you like it?

Hope everything is good on your end.

Re:Water/Methanol Injection info

I purchased the Snow system for egt control, but may tinker with it on the power side of things later. My egt reduction testing has been limited because of time constraints. I'm hoping some one will come along and determine what size jet and pump pressures to use so I don't have to figure it out.

Right now the system is ready for use as a performance enhancment. I think Jim has certainly demonstrated that. But for long continuous use in egt reduction, the controller box needs to be beefed up to handle the higher pump amp loads when using smaller nozzles. Matt says a new controller has been designed and is in production right now.

The controller is the neatest part of the Snow system. You can adjust the cut in boost level, and boost where the pump is recieving maximum voltage. It varies the voltage going to the pump between to those two points. Cutting in at 15 to 16 psi and maxing out at 30 psi seems to work best for me.

I've talked to Matt about using egts to control injection, instaed, which would be a better method of control when towing. It's something he may look into. He's eager to get into the diesel business.

Hey Don, Matt Snow is probably some body you ought to get to know. He worked 5 years on design and R&D team for the injectors used in the 6.0 PSD. Says Ford is muffing them up by cutting corners in the original design and construction. He knows what to do to increase their performance. You two could get into the aftermarket PSD injector business together.

Hmmmm....maybe I best call Matt soon. The only problem I see......there for a Ford. [laugh]
