US Gear Exhaust brake switch????

I just installed the US Gear remote exhaust brake on my 97. It came with a micro push button switch that you can stick with in reach. But I would like to connect it to my 2 speed push pull switch that I have already have mounted on the shifter(5 speed). According to US Gear, the small switch has a delay built in it...
Anyone using a different switch on the shifter?????

I mounted the original Jacobs switch in the little cubby hole and use the NAPA rear end switch on the shifter and use it for control. My sons truck has two switches on the shifter, one for the Pac brake and one for the Gear Vendor OD.

When I first installed the brake...I used my 2 speed push pull switch but the problem that I ran into was that I had to pull the switch on then back off and then back on to get the brake to engage.

Rick,

FWIW - I have the same system. Like you I thought it would be nice to have the switch on the shift lever. I talked to someone at US Gear and asked if they made an alternate switch / remote and was told no and that they had no plans to change it.

I hope you find something that works.

I don't know nothin'....but I've never seen a switch with a delay (short of a seperate timer circuit). I'd check it by itself with an ohm meter and verify any delay.

There really is a delay. Maybe a second. I think it's in the same circuit the lets the brake cycle when you start the truck. Something like 4 seconds after the key is turned on the brake will cycle 2 times to let you know all is well and I think to possibly knock any soot off the baffle. I have the overdrive switch on the shifter and like my brake switch on the dash, under the vent control. I've gotten so used to that setup change now would screw me up..
