Unusual fuel pressure gauge problem

This is the deal. I replaced the lift pump, which was getting weak, with a Cummins pump. It works great, but the problem is this: I am getting such good fuel pressure that when I back off to turn a corner or come to a stop sign, my gauge (16 psi Westach) pegs out at the top, and sticks. I get back in the fuel pedal and the needle stays pegged until I tap it. Then it drops down to where it should be. I guess it's not a real huge problem, but it is annoying to have to tap the gauge all the time to get an accurate reading. I guess that I just like to have everything work as it is supposed to. Any suggestions for getting the gauge not to stick? And no, I won't put the old lift pump back in.

Thanks,

DeWain

I was kinda hoping for a "Rube Goldberg" fix it kind of solution, not one that required the expenditure of money [undecided]

Wait a little while, the famous lift pump will probably start to fade away ;D

Would placing a snubber or somthing like that in line to the gauge help reduce the shock to the needle?

You could always open the gauge up and put a little blue wool in there to pad everything....
I thought about the blue wool solution, if it really gets to me I may try that. Although blue wool is pretty rare in this part of the world.

Maybe you could find one of them bobble head dolls (like a penguin or sheep or something), mount it next to the gauge, and the vibration from the vehicle will get it to tap the gauge for you. 8) [eyecrazy]
