Which turbo for towing and keeping egts down

Just came back from a trip with a 3000 lb slide in camper and towing a small utility trailer of approximately 2500 lbs. Going up hills I had to watch the egts real close. I could get it up to 1300 to 1400 degrees easily. Dropping it out of od it helped but still easily 1200 and doing only 45 max; I have 4:10s.

So I am looking to see if there is a better single turbo out there. I have heard of the he 351cw but don't know enough about.

Please give me your thoughts

Thanks

Your truck and load are similar to mine when I had the Lance camper and boat behind, but I rarely had EGTs as high as yours on hills. I ran at 62 MPH and 1700 RPM in overdrive. On a very long steep upgrade in the Rockies I would eventually get hot and a downshift to 3rd to finish the hill at 50 MPH and 2000 RPM gave me normal EGT at the top. My only thought is perhaps the #5 plate is overfueling. Do you smoke much?

I'd check the timing and the injectors- if they are worn and make bigger droplets they effectively retard the timing, leading to high EGTs at higher RPM
