Turbo Timer?
Hey, has anyone ever heard of a Turbo Timer? Do you think I should get one when I get my new truck? My brother has a honda civic and has been reading all about turbos and stuff and he told me about a turbo timer and I thought that was a good idea. He explained how they work. I guess u turn your car off and take the key out and your truck or car still runs until a certain amount of time which allows your turbo to cool down as well as slow down. Now I know on firetrucks you have to let them idle for at least 2 minutes before turning them off because of that turbo. Just wondering what you guys think. I think I am gonna get one just because it would be cool and it will save your truck. Now I just need to find where they sell them and get a TRUCK!!!

Re:Turbo Timer?
Genos Garage sells them. I just installed one on my truck a couple weeks ago. It's one of the best things I think I have put on it. It get's old sitting there waiting for the truck to cool down before shutting it down. Especially when you pull in a rest stop when towing... seems to take forever... ::)

Tony

Re:Turbo Timer?
300-350 is a good temp. I vary between those two's depending on my mood.

Re:Turbo Timer?
Hey with a turbo timer, what if u have to leave while its still cooling down? Can you just put the key back in and go or do you have to wait for it to shut off?

Re:Turbo Timer?
On the same subject, is there a box that will keep the motor running while waiting for the pyro probe voltage to drop? Not a timer but a temperature monitor.

Re:Turbo Timer?
how much r these devices. whats involved in the instalation?
|
Re:Turbo Timer?
That link above is for one at about $117.00. I have seen them for a lot more so I thought that was a good price. As for installation, I dont know because I havent put one in yet BUT I am assuming that if you have an EGT gauge then u just tap that wire and do it that way, if you dont you have to buy a thermocouple and other things. It says it at the bottom of that link. If I were you I would just install the EGT guage and do it that way but I may be wrong on that installation. I hope that helped.
