Which turbo for me (towing)

Well I've finally come to reality and decided that my stock HX 35 can't keep up with my hp needs. I can hit 1500* and push 42 psi of boost with my setup. Here in the next few months I will being towing 10k daily.

I've been doing some research on turbos and for now, I have to stay with a single turbo setup. I've been looking at a Piers HX-40, the B-1 (and variations of it), and a Super B. My buddy can get me a good deal on a Super B, but I don't know too much about that turbo. Which ever turbo I decide to go w/ I will probably upgrade my injectors to atleast Mach 2's or maybe 2.5's. I have to stay under 450 rwhp because of my clutch. I plan on getting as close as possible to that limit though.

Which turbo would best suit me and best suit my hp goals? I need to keep my egt's under control but would still like quick spoolup and whoop up on the ricers around town. I know selecting a turbo is about balance between egts, spoolup, all the other factors that come into play. Any advice greatly appreciated.

My vote goes for the HTB2. Cost about the same as the Piers but will flow more air. Cost less than the B1. I personally dont know anything about the superB

I'd go for the Super B. It's a very refined unit.

Nothing against HTT, but they use clipped wheels, and I've always been told that clipped wheels are a bad idea.

I've been talking with a fellow who has an HTBG with a 12cm housing from HTT that can keep 450hp cooled down to 1300* and still has good mid range spoolup for towing. The Schwitzer housings are superior to the Holsets (imo) since they'll wastegate all 6 cylinders and can keep drive pressures in check better. So you can run a smaller housing for spoolup and not have egt's become an issue on the top end due to turbo choke. And the compressors can run a little higher psi and still be efficient (40-45 psi).

From my experience, too much turbo is not a good thing while towing. You'll need to keep the rpms up to keep the turbo lit. I'd rather have a tight turbo and sacrifice some top for towing. Much more driveable.

They trim the blades for less aerodynamic drag/less inertia for quicker spool. But then they're not "factory" and could have flaws introduced due to the second-hand machining.

I put a BD superB on my 12V, works awesome for me. On your truck it would probably be perfect with your current setup, but if you put injectors in that create more heat, then I'm not sure. I dropped my exhaust temps about 200 deg. going from stock HX35 to the superB

As long as I can get my egts more under control right now, I'm willing to do almost anything. I'm still not 100% sure when I'll do the injector upgrades, but when I do decide to go that route, it will take 6-8 weeks for them to get to me. If I do decide to go w/ the super B, which now I am definately leaning towards, it should control my egts "better" even after the injector swap. They may still be "hot" for some people, but I'm sure they will be less than what I am seeing now. If they are still a tad high, then water/meth might be next on my "to do list."
