triple disk or single disk
 

i am only looking to ran 350hp on this truck with a 4000rpm spring in it , it's a 95 with a 47rh in it , should i be going with a triple disk or will a single work , this truck i just want to be nicer to drive not a power house. i pull a trailer with it but not alot of weight maybe 6000 pounds. and not all the time ,
or should i just bit the bullit and just buy a built tranny , the trany in the truck only has about 40 000km on it , and has been at stock power the hole time , [coffee]

My personal opinion is that you should care for the fluid coupling characteristics first and that the number of disks does not matter as long as the tc clutch holds the torque. There is more than one way to skin a cat, and each vendor has his own way to make the tranny hold the torque.
After the TC you will need to adress other parts, in stock form the TC clutch has not enough pressure to hold much torque, and it will slip soon. If you swap the TC only there are other parts that will be overwhelmed.
My experience with DTT (this is my only personal firsthand experience with a tranny builder) is that when you talk to them they will put a package together that is tailored to your needs.
And since you have to pull the tranny to swap the TC you are in a good position to refresh it and improve it while you are there. (New frictions, band strut and apply lever, improved seals, maybe new servo pistons etc)

ok well thanks . thats what i wanted , i found a brand new dtt converter from a buddy of mine for a great prices so i am going to use that , thanks for the help

Alpineram said it pretty right on. And I agree. I am very happy with my Built DTT.

As far as the TC, with everything beefed up a little, a single disc will hold very well to around 600 hp. A triple will hold longer with more power, but if your looking for 350 hp/rwhp, you will be totally good with a single disc. Put the extra money youd spend on a triple disc towards other tranny improvements like Alpine said.
