tried SP66, what turbo should I try now
Check my sig. The SP66 was way too laggy for me and too hot to tow. I do need to tow about 8-9k pounds monthly. Im thinking a 62/14 or 64/12, I can live with higher EGTs while towing.
I would never be able to tow with the SP66 I have now (for sale in the classifieds)

I would think a 62/14 with a 71mm turbine would do the trick. Forrest Nearing made 535hp on a 12v with one and inline6power?? made high 500's with one on a 24v. I don't have any personal experience so I may be way off though... lol

A buddy of mine is running 200hp injectors, comp, smarty, 64/14 and he can still hit 1700* with the comp turned off. He says trying to tow with those injectors is a major pain. And all he tows is a little bass boat. Not to mention that it's very smokey.

is it because of the 14 housing? I towed with the injectors on the stock HX35 and it actually did fairly well, I just want a little more cooling and a little less smoke

im telling you a 62/13 will be ostem. you can still peg the pyro but it might clear everything up and help with lag. the best way is to talk to htt.they will help you,try a 64/13 ss.its a little faster spooling. but still laggy a 62 is the best for towing.unless you have twins.

A bigger turbo is gonna be laggier and smokier than a factory turbo. No way around that. You might have to start holding the gears out longer to get a little more boost built up. Problem though is that with an auto you really can't hold the gears out that long. A 62 might work but it's hard to say. Those injectors are massive. I haven't towed with mine but with a 62/12 and the TST turned off I can keep egt's around 900* just normal acceleration. I'm sure that with a load though they'd get up there pretty quick.

bigblue is right those are massive injectors i would run 150 max for towing. the easiest rout is to buy smaller injectors and turn that 66 into a smaller 62 when towing. then when you want to lay down the power put the big sticks in. its cheaper than buying a bunch of turbos.

Take it back off and send it directly to HTT. A compressor change is only a few hundred bucks. If you want to try one a ht71 or sps go ahead and sell/ rebuy, but if you can live with what ever exhaust housing you have then just get a smaller compressor and save some coin =P

Alot of guys think that when it comes to injectors that bigger sticks means HP. This is not always true....especially if you have to tow with your truck. I switched from my old 10 hole Dragon Flows to 4 flow Dragons from II & dropped egts by 300*, but you would think the truck would lose alot of power.....not true! I didn't notice any difference in power because I now can turn my box on kill & not worry about egts or blowing huge clouds of smoke. I added a Smarty to make up for the drop in injector size to aid in spooling my turbo fast for getting the 15k# trailer moving. This was by far my best decision yet on my path to a hard core tow rig that is more fun to drive & still turns dyno numbers over 500hp. I think you would enjoy your truck more if you got a SS62, 150 sticks & a Smarty. Just my $.02

99globalwarmer....How do you like your twin setup? I am just wondering how it is with the 62/13SS & K31? What are your temps like? I have a friend who is thinking about using the same setup for his puller.
