Transmission advice
I am going to buy a full billet full comp. transmission, planning on spending around $7000.00. I prefer the Suncoast with the 5 disc Proloc TC, but I will not rule out on ATS, DTT, or Gorerend. I do not tow or haul, I plan to run dynos and occasional drag race. Need opinions. Thanks:)

Just spend your money! Wish I needed opinions on how to spend money :D :D :D

I would find out who is closest to you and start working from there, call (or better go there in person) and talk to the different builders, and see who you get a good feeling from, the transmissions will all do what you want, so go with what feels right to you. Trust your instincts, they are usally right.

CIN,
Do a search on transmissions and the variations; i.e. tranny and so forth. You will find tons of info and opinions from those who already own them. I have been doing that myself trying to make the discussion on what builder I want to go with for my upgrade. Make a pot of strong coffee cause it’s going to take a while to sort through it all. I’m leaning toward Goerend Brothers. |

For a racing Tranny...I don't think you can go wrong with Suncoast....or DTT.
I believe Goerand is excellent under 500 hp....still not fully proven on higher HP trannys (but getting there fast). I still see a few guys having poor expiriences with ATS...leaving them and going to one of the other three....and being much happier. If you feel you can get good followup service from Suncoast, being 1,000 miles away...I would just do it! Good luck RJ |
has anyone tried or heard of Inglewood Trans

Anyone looked into Phoenix Hard Parts
these guys look like their EXTREME build is the same as some of the other guys They say they are wholsaleing to some of the big name builders mentioned here. I checked out there shop and equipment looks good they offer same specs for I think 2/3 the cost. You can also pay for extended warranty buzz me if you want to check out more info....

Since you are hoping run high HP and dyno or drag race, then I'd say select tranny accordingly.
Who's proving themselves the most at the dragstrip in heavy trucks? Suncoast and DTT. Well, and ATS, too, I suppose. Yes, the Bentz dragster is running an ATS trans, but pushing a rail car down the strip is not quite the same as a 7000# truck. Of course, running 7s in that rail car may offset the weight difference as far as load on the trans goes. |
