What about them flexing and all? I had heard that they needed some way to flex so they didn't try and break away from the frame or the axle. Did you weld those on or are they just bolted on? I don't really want to weld them on, rather bolt them some where.

Usually the ends of the Traction Bars are some sort of joint. I can't remember the name of them but usually they are like 3 Point Hitch joints like on a tractor I believe. Then you just run bolt through the bracket and eye and both ends are able to have flex. However if I am wrong feel free to correct me!

IF you make a set try and fix two points on the axle and the front mount use a shackle for the ideal set..

Here is a set for a 3rd gen, but same concept..

Those rize industries bars look nice, mine have heavyduty uniballs on each end, I haul two snowmobiles on a sled deck up and down some rough logging roads, no problems.

I have looked at those from lazarsmith.com. They look nice, looks like they would be easy to put on and no welding. THat is one thing i am looking for is to not have to weld them on. Just a good bolt on application.

Can anyone think of a floating type for the 2nd gen?
I worry about the mounts pulling out of the frame with the straight bars. We have some real nice roads up here. Even dirt roads in VT are better than a lot of this.

I think you will befine with the LazarSmith Track Bars. Many members on here run they on there daily drivers with many miles on and off highway and no problems.

I am currently working on making a set for my third gen, the joints are called Heim joints. As for the mounting I am going to bolt them to the frame and axle. Here is a pic of my heims, very large and beefy.

Yep those are some big heim joints for sure, one thing I did do on mine is I ended up going with a soft rubber style bushing on the front mounting of the bars, because when you use solid mounts front and rear you really feel the driveline, not so much a vibration, kinda hard to explain it but almost like a worn out bearing kinda feel
