Towing with a 64mm

Ok I've done some searching and can't find what I want to no so I w ill ask. I'm towing more with my 2000 and my egts stay around 1050 or so and get higher when pulling a hill like they should and I would like to turn up my smarty to have mire power towing and was wondering how good a 64/71/14 is going to be with towing. Or should I just keep my stock turbo and get an intake intake horn and water meth injection?

I replied to your other thread also, but I'll put it up here. You're going to be better off with a 62/65/14. It'll support 500+ RWHP all day long which is more than your truck is putting out. The 65 exhast wheel will start spooling sooner to help keep EGT's down.

IMO the 64 you're asking about will be slow to spool causing EGT's to get high before you can get into the turbo. And IMO you dont have the fuel for a 64MM turbo.

And just so you know turn the numbers up on the smarty does not turn up the power. Level 3,5,7,9 are all ~60RWHP with timing. The only thing it adjust is how much torque management there is.

I wouldn't have hesitated to tow with my 64/71. It was a great charger, and it didn't come on all that much later than my twins do. It was making 15 psi boost by 1600 rpm in OD. The 65mm wheel in a tight housing is prone to surge as well as barking, makes for a quick destruction of the thrust bearing.
