Totally Confused!! TST or Edge

Ok i just got my II super 62/14, downpipe and RV 275 sticks yesterday, still on the way is a 2 piece manifold and 5" stacks. After spending the last hour searching on here for info on what fueler i need i'm lost now. I have the smarty with an EZ right now, i know i need something to tap the VP, and mine is just at a year old. So which do i go with, Edge comp/drag or TST PM3? I do tow in the summer, but i have that need for speed bug bad!! So let me know, i need to get something ordered up. thanks for the info....

PS. YES i am planning a new clutch, still need info on that too... different thread in the future...lol

TST(Competition version of course) would go nicely with that Smarty...

Bob and Marco both recommend the TST with the Smarty.

The Smarty has timing programs built into it (supposed to be better) and the TST is a fueling box only. The Edge products are a timing/fueling box.

PowerMax 3 (PM3)

TST Comp! if you plan on big hp. The PM3 is the next step down....either one will do just fine.

Powermax 2- 90 hp at the flip of a switch
Powermax 3- 120 hp availible through 9 levels on the remote
Competition Edition- CE fuels past redline and fuels harder

or Blue Chip's
apb- 85 hp adjustable on a dial
fms- lots of fuel and plenty of features
Redline- fuel to 4K rpms
The harder fueling boxes can be hard on the vp44, but you don't *have* to run around set on kill 24/7  Either will stack nicely with either your EZ or your smarty. Triple stack if you must [laugh]

Our standard module also stacks very well with both the Smarty and the EZ. It will provide the same or better fueling than the TST and cost a LOT less.

Might be worth your while to check into it and you can keep your current setup. You can just turn ours up as needed and run it in the off position the rest of the time if you want?

I can assure you we will net the same or better power numbers as anything listed here so far plus I am pretty sure our bottom end is quite a bit better than everything else.

Here is our link but, you will want to shop here on the DTR or with other vendors for pricing.

If you want smooth power, don't buy a TST. Edge Chips are way smoother and do not have lopey idles, misses at high RPM's and or unexplained/unwanted throttle at mysterious times. Buy yourself an Edge Comp or Drag Comp!

The only con to my TST is the shudder when you let off if it's over setting 6. I've never experienced any of those other problems and I've been running it for several years. I got tired of replacing Edge Drag Comps. Couldn't get them to live very long. May have to give that Quad box a try on the dyno and the track to see how it compares to my current Competition model TST. Do you offer it in a 180hp version like my Comp TST that will fuel to 4500 rpm? So far no boxes or combination of boxes has been able to beat my dyno numbers and track numbers with the TST/EZ and I have tried everything else out there on this truck including both the Catcher ECM no timing with the drag comp and the catcher with timing and the TST. For some reason the TST/EZ did wonders for eliminating turbo lag also. The missing at high rpm is caused by a bad connection or a blown diode in your alternator. It's not the programming of the TST that causes that. I switched all of my connections over to the good old posi-taps made in Poplar Bluff Missouri and eliminated all of those issues.

Get a TST PM3 or if you want get the TST Comp. I have had no problems running it on mine other then I a had to buy a new clutch.

Russ,

Get the TST PM3 standard version and run it with your EZ. If you decide later that you absolutely must have the comp version... you can try mine and decide if you want to deal with the shudder... if you decide after that that you still want the comp version, you can send yours to TST and have it changed - OR maybe talk me into trading. Take this for what it is worth but I've only run my Comp version on any level above 5 a couple of times in the year that I've had it - just because the shudder is so BAD when you let off. Highly unlike me to have extra power and not use it. [dummy]

Lopey idles? How would a TST cause lopey idle? You're going to have to back up what you say on this comment. Have you ever used a TST box? I know a bunch of people who run TST and have been using a TST for a good while and have never heard this before. Please enlighten me.

I haven't had any of these issues with my TST Competition box... Smooth power delivery, no idle issues, no misses and no unwanted throttle... the only known issue with this box is the infamous pump shudder.

No problems like that here either. I can deal with the shutter though. I would go with the TST PM3 or Comp. in your case man.
