you may be able to drill tap and helicoil theblock...not sure.

if thats a possibility then you may have to get studs...because it will just get screwed into the hole, then the nut on top gets torqued, therefore not adding any extra stress to the threads

ill wait until someone who knows if you can heli-coil the block chimes in

Have Studs, Have newly fire ringed head, cleaned and bottom tapped all holes, torqued 70- 80 - 90 - 100- then 125 - pulled threads on the very first stud to 125! I'm this close to going in the mourning and buying a Duramax!

Just venting, I'm seriously discouraged about my truck. It's seen the shop more than the road lately! I think I've replaced every part on it in the last 3 months.

I know what you mean! I know I can fix the block, and buy another 300.00 HG, and loose another 3-4 days, but my question is when do you just say NO?!

what brand was the torque wrench?

do you know if torque wrench is accurate?

what was the reason you chased out bottom thread?

are you dead positive you used correct tap size?

if you enlarged threads by using an oversized tap. then it can reduce amount load thread will support. was the stud sloppy threaded?

Bottom tapping gives you uniform performance and correct thread depth throughout the whole project.
Most blocks dont have enough thread depth to properly install the studs.
The space is there for the threads just not threaded from the factory.

Since most use alot of ft lbs of torque on the studs bottom tapping is a must in my book.

What size of tap did you use? Are you sure it was correct?

Worst comes to worst I say drill and tap it out to a 14mm stud.

Snap-on wrench, recalibrated last year, and yes we used the correct tap size.
