Timing

Planning on getting my truck timed here in the near future. My truck has a slight miss/pop when it gets up around 2500rpm or so, kinda like its starving for fuel. Ive heard other 160pumped trucks do the same thing. Some have told me that advancing the timing to 20* is about the only way to stop it, but I was thinkin that was a little high. Just lookin for some input on what yall think would be best for me. Thanks

I'd try 16-18*.

Smaller pumps usually do better with higher timing

Depending on mods, maybe the truck will do better with 17-19 maybe?

I'm at 16.5 and it's pretty smooth. It really depends on how much more fuel and boost you want to throw at it. If you're looking at keeping your stock turbo and less than 38 psi or so you could probably get away with 17-18, but if you're going to run more boost than that or maybe water meth injection you want to keep it closer to 16.5 or so to save your head gasket. If you are just going to do your plate and DVs, IMO you can run about 17.5 or so maybe a hair more. Then if later you want to add more boost and fuel, you can drop the timing a bit.

good luck
