Time for a new pump, which one to buy?

So with less than a year on it my IP is dead. I bought the truck from my buddy and he said he bought it from TST for $1600. They told him this would be the pump he wanted to run the comp on. Now that im replacing this I want it to last longer than 18k miles. I play with the comp all the time and I want some big sticks to go with it as I do play a lot with this truck. I do a little bit of towing in a recreational sense. What injection pump is going to last me the longest with modding it and also be most benificial to me power wise for my comp box and a set of sticks down the road.

Does the pump not have a warranty? Usually the vp44 will come with a 1 year warranty.

It's my opinion all vp44 excluding the Czech made pumps will be equal, as the pump shops have to build and test the pumps per Bosch standards. I would take the serial number off your pump and call Bosch to have them check which updates have been done to that particular pump. There has been at least two new upgrades to the electronic since the vp44 came out among other internal pump upgrades.

What kind of fuel pressure do you have and if you wanna gets ome big sticks get an SO pump and a nice set of EDM's like F1 or DDP injectors it will be a better combo than a HRVP and big sticks IMO

Its your call, if you want to spend the extra money for the hot rod I think it is worth it. Improved mpg and less smoke and the biggest deal its faster!

If you're gonna run the comp, I'd suggest the SO pump. The HRVP's start to level out with the SO pumps when the wire is tapped. So you could save $700 and buy a set of sticks.

is there any more reliability in the hot rod pumps than an SO. And someone above mentioned the sheid pumps, are these the most bulletproof pump I can get?

If my pump craters before I swap my p-pump on, I'll be sure to post about it. I'm not sure one is gonna be any more reliable than another, save for the Czech pumps you see on E-bay. Call different manufacturers and see what they say, what their warranties are, etc.

People have posted that the HRVP gets a new housing while the rebuilds don't. I've no experience with the sheild pump, but the one I've got one from Industrial Injection works great- but can be lopey at idle.

If I were you I'd be looking for a SO pump from a repudable rebuilder. The sticks can make as much of a gain as the HRVP and you want to buy injectors anyways- so SO pump, no doubt. All the new rebuilt pumps will have all the current updates.
