thinking about p pump conversioin

I know this is talked about some here and has been done. So what are the draw backs if any other than cost. My 01 is basicly stock except for the intake, exhaust and thw fass 150 system. I was thinking by the time that i replace the vp (sooner or later but havent yet) buy a chip that maybe that money would be better spent on the p pump?

cons
timing isnt adjustable as easy as vp. power is not as variable as vp. kinda $$$

i want to p-pump as well, especially while my vp is still good.

How much does it cost and any other draw backs??

24valvepuller 09-18-2008 07:54 PM

the kit minus the p-7100 is like $1500 from haisleys, pump would be another $1000-???? depending on how much you want. Don't let anybody tell you it isn't worth it.

False. Its a 98! ;)

It cost me a little under $4k to do it. $1800 for the kit from Schieds, $1000 for the pump itself, $700 for the 45psi FASS and then the rest for various odds and ends, like hoses. You will need an overflow valve, and someway to shut it off. The factory solenoid is the best way IMO, but I lucked out and had friends that gave me some 12v parts. Keep in mind, those are the prices I paid in Canada after exchange rate and shipping and the like. US residents should be able to do it cheaper than that without much trouble.

Paul, I got the F1's in the 12v on Monday. Installed them, took it for a drive, wouldn't boost over 10 psi and would barely smoke. Then we realized that we left the boost tube boot on the airhorn loose. Tightened it up, and WOW! What a difference. Can't wait to get the SPS62 on this engine to see how it really does.

How did you end up with a p-pump for $1000? I'd also like to do the conversion.

you are right I was corrected on the price of the kit. $1800+ $1000 and up for the pump. I used a cable to shut mine off, for pulling you need a shutoff inside the cab anyway

My bad....for some reason I thought your 24v was a 01 [duhhh]

I knew you would like those F1s, they are a awesome injector.
Did you do any port work to the 12v head?

Negative on the porting. Everything is still stock on the 12v except plate, timing, injectors and GSK. I do have a spare 12v head that will be getting o-ringed, and possibly ported a bit. We will see how that goes.

I was able to get the pump for $850 USD, that was with #10 plate, AFC springs and 4k GSK in it. Worked out to about $1000 CDN. I found it in the classifieds on here. And thats a 215 pump.
