Suspension Setup Advice?
Hi guys, looking for some wise words to figure out a good suspension setup for my 96 4wd. A little background on it; purchased the truck with an 5" Zone Off-road lift paired with coil spacers and custom rear blocks to make an 8" lift with 37" tires, that turned out to be a ridiculously dangerous system (death wobble like crazy and rough as crap) so dropped it back to 5" but the truck rides really rough, worse than stock, like I've never been in another truck this rough. So I'm weighing options trying to find a good setup, thinking probably Thuren coils and maybe a spacer to keep the 5" hight but not sure what shocks to run or what to do with the rear end yet. I drive mainly gravel and rough pavement some lighter towing and a little mild off-road. Any good advice from all you 12 valve pros? Thanks guys

Forgot to mention I ditched the 37" for 35" rubber, but I'd like to keep 4.5-5" of lift if I can. Does Thuren make custom coils? All I've seen are the 2, 3 and 6 inch

Good/reasonable advice above.
I run the 3" carli coils, king shocks and have plenty of room to clear 35" tires. Carli, Thuren, and other brands of soft ride coils are going to provide your best overall ride. There are so many variables to a suspension system but think quality, not quantity and what your budget will allow. If you have to wait to align your budget to quality components, do so as you probably don't want to go down another rough road. pun intended. I just finished replacing my whole front end with Dodge off road parts. OMG this thing drives like a Caddy! ZERO and I MEAN ZERO play or wander or wondering if you're even driving. WOW! I wish this was around when I first bought this thing. dodgeoffroad.com a little pricey but so easy to instal and very easy to do your own alignment and save tons.

I mounted the rear hangers 4" lower and flipped the shackle. Easy 4" lift without a harsh-riding lift spring. (2ndgen Dana 80, leafs, and hangers on a 1stgen).
Best tip I have for handling issues on 2ndgens is add caster, and T-style (HD) steering. I spend some time wrenching with my buddies on their 2ndgens.

1995 Dodge/Cummins RAM 2500 4x4.
Skyjacker Softride 2" coils in the front with longer lower axle control link. Removed the lift blocks from the rear axle & used either 6" or 8" lift (can't remember which one at this time) Skyjacker Softride leaf springs,. Truck sits level & no more rear wheel hop when climbing loose gravel, rock, etc. Still running a 285 tire though. Truck drives much nicer than OEM suspension.
