stumble with new injectors
 
I recently installed 370 marine injectors, and as in most cases this created a stumble at around 1200 rpms, i then installed 191 delivery valves thinking this would stop the stumble it didn't. I added a number 10 fuel plate with no improvement. It just doesn't add up, and i still can't get egts to break 800 degrees, which is kind of wierd because my buddies truck is stock and he can break 1000 easy. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks guys.

what year is ur truck? the smaller pumps they will stumble a bit until the IP gets timed....

My truck is a 1995 dodge ram 2500 4X4. 370 marine injectors,191 delivery valves,#10 plate, air raid intake, 5 inch exhaust with 4inch downpipe, and air raid intake. Mine was the 160hp pump, maybe you're right, i need to get it retimed.

I could be wrong seeing as I don`t own a P-pump, but I think it has something to do with the DV`s being too small.

I agree with Tx, bumping your timing up to 15.5 or 16 degrees should eliminate the stumble. 800 degrees max EGT's are still really low I think. The truck in my sig can easily hit 1300+ and thats with a full B-1, But then again it does have a 100 plate full forward with the star wheel maxed so that could be making the difference.

He stated in his first post that he upgraded from the stock size delivery valves to 191's which are plenty big enough to fuel a set of 370's. :)

i thought about moving the #10 plate forward but my friend out in arizona has a #6 plate that he offered me. Which one will i see more power, #10 full forward or #6 in stock position. This might help raise the power and egts. How do you move the afc housing forward. I don't really care for fuel mileage, this truck is used pretty much for mudding. I don't really go in the deep stuff, pretty much im there to pull out the drunken fools who put a 2005 jeep liberty through a mud hole big enough to bury the best mudders. I record everything, i will have to post some pics and video to show you guys, these guys do stupid some stupid things, and to think they give us guns to play with, what a great job, lol.

Someone will correct me if i'm wrong but, I belive that a ten plate slid full forward will equal a #8 in the stock position.

My 95 with 191 dv and 100 plate at stock position hits 1200 deg. easily.Hows your boost?,low boost is low fuel and low egts.The 10 plate would give you more low end full forward and the 6 would give your more mid range and top end power.

with the wastegate blocked i can get close to 42 pounds of boost, i have an adjustable elbow on the afc housing closed off, the turbo spools quickly and i seem to have ok power, when the tc locks up stand back, it takes off from 50 to 80 in a couple seconds. I cant get the truck to do over 90 , at that speed my rpms are around 2700. I'm sort of at a loss on where to go from here.

with that kind os boost you should have plenty of heat.Is your piro guage pre or post turbo. About 800 -900 degrees post turbo is like 1200 pre turbo.As far as the stumble it seems to be pretty common with 370's.People seem to have better luck with diamond b's from Piers and other upper end 370's,i think they come balanced

the sensor is preturbo. Maybe i should check the fuel pressure, but wouldn't low pressure cause low turbo boost?

You absolutly NEED GOVERNER SPRINGS!!!!!!! I always put governor springs in they are not very expensive fairly easy install and they absolutly make ALL THE DIFERENCE in the world. I can hardly drive a cummins without g-springs just drives me crazy. In my suburban I can go 95 mph in 3rd gear it is an automatic and I have 3.42 gears and 4000 g-springs,any questions on the springs be happy to help.

I don't think so, I have a freind that up until about 4 weeks ago was post turbo at 8-900*, we moved the probe to pre turbo---1500*F with NO trouble!!! Post turbo is bad news!!!
