Straight pipes

I am looking at buying 4" or 5" straight pipes but are they too loud. My main concern is being able to talk on the phone. I drive 120 to 200 miles a day and need to be able to take business calls. Outside of the cab I would like it to sound like a semi

with my stacks and the windows rolled down running 75, i cant hear a thing. From the exhaust, motor, road noise, radio, and the wind, its near impossible to carry on a conversation. Now, if you roll up the windows its almost as quiet as stock. :D so go for it!

You'll be fine with phone calls and having stacks. I say go for it too!!

Yup, I've held confrence calls in my truck idling and/or 75mph....on speakerphone nonetheless.

I just did a 4 inch straight pipe last week, and i was really worried about it being too loud but i really wanted the semi sound.

I definately got the sound i wanted and inside it sounds like stock, it gets pretty loud around 2000 rpm but only for a second and it doesnt interrupt your conversation.

If you do decide to go with the straight pipe, you will be very happy!

Just cruising it's fairly quiet, but it gets loud when you work it. My race muffler takes the edge off it.

all ive done to mine is cut the muff off, and it seems loud, not as loud as my 99 with a straight, but it gets loud enoguh when im in in second cruising then kinda get on it, like i cant hear if someone says something. im not complaining at all, but dont wantthe guy to get his stacks and then get fired because he cant hear his business calls! lol

Why dont you guys buy www.blackclouddiesel.com 5-7" stacks with internal mufflers? You could allways remove them easily if you dont like it. Those mufflers are also cheap.

just do what i did cost me 80 bucks total. find a 4" downpipe for cheap a 4" to 5" adapter and a 5" 45* bend it exits right under the rear pass door. sounds awsome and it sets off car alarms when you get on it.[laugh] this is just a temp till i get my stacks needed to keep egts down. but worth every penny could probly sell it and get money back.
