Which South Bend???
well it looks like I might end up going with the NV 5600 w/ 1 3/8 input shaft so that means a new clutch, & seems like the south bend is the only way to go, so which one do ya'll recomend?? I'm planning on delivery valves & bigger sticks a little later,& probably twins in the next year, but I don't really think I have the need for a dual disk, so should I go ahead & get the biggest single disk??? that's what I was planning on, but just wanted some opinions especially on driveability & feel & such, thanks, Dusty

If you are going to twins, you might want to seriously consider the dual disk.
The FE clutch is fine, but does not like to be slipped too much. However teh Dual Disks can take a beating... Best bet is to Call South Bend Clutch. Merrick |
you can get a dual disk with better manners than an fe (south bends new street line) plus it wont cost a whole lot more as you wont need to upgrade the input shaft

Like was said before go with the DD you will thank yourself later.

I think I'm gonna go with the FE, hauled a tractor with a 99' a couple of days ago that had the 5 spd. & the FE & it seemed to work really well, the truck had a comp 90 hp?? injector nozzles, 4" exhaust, hybrid turbo, & the fass & the clutch held very well, I think it's all I will need, if/when I go to twins they'll be mainly for towing, just to keep things cooler, not buildin an outright racer or anything, just like the get up & go, but I still gotta keep it useable, so I think for my budget's sake I'm gonna stick the FE in her & see how it does, thanks for the replies, Dusty

At least thats what I was told 2 weeks ago and ordered.Id be offly Edit if this is the case(Peter was trying to get me to go DD with an upgraded input shaft) Con FE is a GREAT clutch but like metioned,it is a lil grabby.... |
actually he has a 6 speed (or is putting one in which is why he needs a new clutch) i was stating since he wont have to upgrade to an 1 3/8 since it already has it a dual disk wouldn't be an ofly lot more. And they just released a line that is for the street. (well mannered)
