Some basic suspension questions.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 with a 4.5" skyjacker lift kit, two inch leveling kit up front and 2.5" blocks in the back (it has 3" wide springs). My first question is, what blocks came stock on our trucks? 4.5"? I have about 7" of blocks on the back and want to get rid of them! I need to have something that will work for towing, drag racing and sled pulling. I might atleast lower the truck back down by removing the 2" leveling kit and the 2.5" block on the back, but that will still leave me with a 4.5" block. I would also have to change my tires most likely.

So, if this was your truck what would you do? Just go back to the 4.5" lift with a single block and maybe get new tires?

I am leaning towards just lowering the truck back down to 4.5" and looking for a good set of rear leafs. I am also worried about te current geometry with the driveline and whatnot.

How can I tell if there is an add a leaf already installed on my truck?

I appreciate all of the help, and appologize for the long post.

Thank you,

Paul

I'd go back as close to stock as possible, then ditch the lift blocks entirely with replacment springs.

Look at another CTD and compare the packs to see if you have an AAL. There are only two rear spring variants-- Camper pkg (same as dually) and non-Camper.

blocks

i went with the skyjacker 6" springs and the d25 springs up front for a nice level look with NO BLOCKS! added fabtech dual hoops and fox reservior shocks and love it!

Do you have any issues towing with the 6" springs...do they sag?

What were the size of the stock blocks?

towing

i don't tow anything with the 02 anymore.

4.5" blocks are fine if you add traction bars. I am running the 4.5 skyjacker lift and the factory rear springs. My truck came with the large springs and helpers so there wasnt a need to change them. I pull a sled a few times a year with no problems.

If you are oly worried about saging when hooked to the sled then just make some suspension blocks for the rear.
