Question

Can I use the SMARTY with my Edge-EZ or will I have to remove it?

You can use them together, using one of the programs that does not advance timing would probably be the best way to go.

You can stack them but you have to run the levels on the smarty that dont add timing

In those cases where you have to set the Smarty to not add timing, is there advantage to having the other box? Would you be just as well off to have the Smarty by itself?

I am in the market to buy another diesel truck and am going to buy in the 98.5-02 era and have heard a lot about the edge being the best thing for dodge, but now i am hearing quite a bit about this smarty. Anyone with opinions as to which is better? What kind of fuel mileage gains? Peak power? How much does a smarty cost?

Smarty with stock trans.

Would not recomend the smarty with a stock auto as it adds fuel and boost early in the rpm range without bumping the auto's oil pressure. The auto and tourqe convertor are the weak link in the drivetrain and were not available with the HO motor with only 10 more horsepower. Twogun

i tried one out on my truck and it smoked more than my buddies 12v with a 100 plate, starwheel cranked all the way, fuel plate full foreward and timing advaned to 16 deg.

I was very impressed with it, does not add a ton of HP, but adds quite a bit of torque, heres a dyno sheet with my truck stock and also with smarty on SW 9

Green is stock and red is Smarty SW 9 (highest setting)

My truck is stock except for AMSOIL air filter, straight pipe, FASS fuel system, other small onn HP adding things

I am thinking on buying something for fuel mileage and a little more power at times. Does the smarty have to plug into the obd plug under dash? And if so does it have to stay plugged in while driving?
