smarty w/revo and quadzilla xzt+

so my truck is as per sig right now. i just bought a used smarty and am planning on downloading the revo s/w when it gets here.

what box has better timing on it's own?

with the revo, i can adjust the timing. so can i run the xzt+ (timing/fuel) and then just adjust the timing on smarty as needed?

or would i be better off having quad flash the xzt+ to add fuel only???

if i turn down the smarty timing as low as it will go - will that still be too much with the xzt+?

so just called quad and talked to jeremy. he said they can't take the timing off the xzt+. so i'm stuck with the: stock - timing - timing/fuel options on the xzt+.

jeremy said i should add no more than a total of 7.5* of timing over stock. does this sound right?

anyone know how much timing each adjustable level adds on the smarty/revo s/w?

jeremy said the xzt+ has about 5 - 5.5* of timing.

I ran this setup for a while, when I adjusted the timing with the revo software no matter what setting i put it on it sounded like the valves were going to come through firewall. My guess would be the higher the number, on the revo settings, the more timing it adds.

good to know. i got a response back from MADS and they said the higher the timing the better the mileage. they also said if too much timing is added, the engine will really rattle - they said it will sound bad, but does no harm.

i am gonna see if they will tell me the degrees added at each level.

they also said i can adjust by ear (rattle) with the revo settings. good to know that sounds like that with any amount of timing added. i will be cautious when playing with it.

if the timing is to advanced its a bad thing can cause serious engine damage so I wouldn't say it does no harm. could crack pistons and bend rods etc. not saying that either of these chips or programmers stock or stacked would advance it enough to cause damage but it is def. a possibility.

thanx for the input.

i will be very cautious in doing this. not sure why MADS said it doesn't cause harm . . .

"Hello,
the injection timing changes accordingly to the RPM and driving conditions.
The timing is the first parameter for mileage. Higher the timing, better the mileage. When the timing is too much the engine rattles. Rattle is not dangerouse for the engine but the mileage drops.
So it should be easy to find the right setting just hearing to the engine.
