Talking Smarty & Injectors Combo...

I'm lookin for someone who has installed a smarty with injectors only, no other boxes and preferably a HX-35 Turbo...

Bob told me that the Smarty worked great w/ the Mach 4's on a HX turbo...

Of course exhaust and intake does'nt matter, but I want to see who has done these two mods and what kind of results they've had...

I do some towing and alot of driving so this is where my modding will probibly stop, just want to see what injectors everyone has and what they think about them...

I've got an old set of Diesel Dynamics Stage 2's (DD2s). For a while, the DD2s and the EZ were considered a good safe towing setup where you didn't have to worry about EGTs much with the HX35. Right now, I'd probably lean more toward the DD2s (or an equivalent HP EDM injector) and the Smarty. The low end fueling of the Smarty and the dynamic timing is an advance over the EZ, and with the cleanliness of the EDMs, you could probably even go with a larger injector.

Talk to Hohn, he has that setup

IMO, that is way too hot for towing. Fine for hot rodding empty.

With my Juice on Level One and Mach 1.6s, I need to keep an eye on EGTs towing 5000 lbs on mountain passes.

I think Mach 1.6s with a SO or Mach 1s/RVs with an HO are a better heavy towing setup. My 1.6s are perfectly fine for towing, you just need to watch EGTs and downshift when necessary.

I have some sort of injectors, nozzles I think. I gotta pull one back out to get the numbers off of it. But I am thinking they are like a Jammer 3 or 4. And i have a Smarty and Hx35.

Now that is has been getting warm the EGTs are getting warm also. I havent really done much towing yet, but before my VP-44 starting failing I hit *1620 on the gauge before I hit 80 mph wide open from a dead stop. Made me pretty nervous so I have been really watching what I do now. I can easily hit *1400. Bret

I have a setup similar to rebal's.
2000, SO, 6 speed (SB Con OFE), 1.6's, HRVP, SMARTY #9 is awesome, definately going to be a challange on a wet road.

With the stock pump I never had to watch the EGT's, with the HRVP its a different story. I have no idea how hot it will get, but I'll find out one of these days.

Another HO with Mach 1.6's and a Smarty with the stock HX-35 turbo. Not a problem so far. I tow, but not heavy, about 5000# max. I discussed injectors with DonM before I purchased them and he said if I wasn't going to tow, I could get away with Mach 4's. I played it safe. (I think I did slip my clutch towing my empty trailer (2500#'s empty) on Smarty level 7 )

I ran my 4.5 and old Mad Ecm with stock turbo.. Pulling steep grades = one eye on pyro, running with the OD off helps. I've since upgraded to a larger turbo and have the Smarty and TST combo working together.

Mach II's and Smarty AWESOME! So awesome, my clutch fliped me the bird! I have had the pleasure of trying a Mad ECM that RJohnson had and his new Smarty. My truck was an absolute rocket ship with the 2's and level #9! Granted, i have been in some 600 HP trucks......it wasnt that good....but for my truck..... ! Then the clutch started slipping and that told me that I can't have one until I get a new clutch.

I would try to get the whole injector. Theres no telling what kind of wear yours have. With the nozzle you are just disassembling your injector and replacing the tip. But there are possible problems you can encounter, leaks ect even on a micro scale. Don M can talk for days about it.
