sled pulling

Just bought a new honda so now I want to try hooking my truck to a sled. I am about to purchase the quadzilla adreniline with pulse, I will make some traction bars and some stiff knees. I'm wanting to run 35" mud tires from now on, what would be my best option for gearing and locker selection? I have the stock 3.55 gear with a dana 60 front and dana 70 rear? What are the best u-joints that I can buy over the counter?

I'm not an expert in pulling by any means, but I can at least speak from experience!

Unless you have a LOT of big-money good parts in the trans, I wouldn't run 35s, it will eat up your clutches quick. Depending on soil of course. I was running a shift kit and low stall billet converter, and with 33 x 12.5 kumhos I destroyed my rear clutch pack in two pulls, trans was just a bit tired at 40k old, then after switching to a 5 spd I destroyed a 12.25" full ceramic clutch first pull. So I'd say stick with your current tire size untill the rest of the driveline can handle more traction.

If you are set on getting 35's for driving around anyway, 4.10's will get everything back to stock stress levels for the most part. Stock spicer u joints are about the best you can buy, for longevity and strength from my experience. Precision makes a decent product but not the same. The yolks themselves will be a weak(er) link then the u-joints, if your concerned about them breaking. I would also be concerned with stock input/int./output shafts in that auto before worrying about the u-joints.

Unless you REALLY like throwing money at broken parts, then just throw on the 35's and let er rip! It might be more fun that way anyhow. Good luck!
