Running Board Mat
Running Board Mat
Well, a running board is an accessory, so hopefully this is the correct forum, if not, I apologize.
My truck has running boards upon which are glued a rubber mat. One has come loose (luckily I caught it before it blew away). Obviously I'm going to have to clean all the old adhesive off before re-applying which leads to my question.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a product to remove the adhesive without damaging the paint, as well as a recommendation for an adhesive that will not let loose in the future. Whatever the DC dealer used, obviously didn't work (as the dealer painted the boards to match the truck before I bought it, so I know they glued the mats back on).
Pic is in my gallery if you have no clue what I'm talking about.

Well you can use either a ton of those "prep pads" that they use for medical purposes or a little brake parts cleaner might work with a brush that wont scratch off the paint (toothbrush?). Can't help you on what to use for re-applying the mat (calk maybe?)
My question is this, if your gonna put the mat back on, then why worry about not scratching the paint with something that you know will get it off? A very fine sand paper might help also.
