It's my understanding that the D70HD p-lok is the same as a D80 except for the ring gear bolt pattern. Randy's Ring & Pinion and Reider Racing can supply the modified hardware.

Does anyone have close up pictures of what good clutches versus bad clutches look like . I pulled mine apart today,dont know if there bad or good, thanks

If you have friction material on the clutches and it doesnt smell burned you should be ok. Bad frictions will have dark streaks or missing fiber all together. BUT they should be cheap enough that if you take apart, just go ahead and replace the fibers and steel's.

I think the new clutch kits from Dana/Spicer with not have fiber frictions, it may be all metal. I read that is an improved version, see this thread:

Re d80/d70 interchangeability- I don't think so, but the 60 and 70 p-lock will share internals. It is even possible to put 70 carriers (and gears for that matter) into 60's but it's "complicated".
BTW *all steel* clutches (no fiber) are available for the 60 and 70) p-lock. A lot more durable.
