Raptor 150----SWEET

Not a bad deal. I have it set at 17-18 psi and it never fluctuates, even at wot. Question though, do I need to keep the return line connected at the old fuel pump in the tank? I have a ticking and read on here that it could be caused by the vp44 overflow valve to the return line failing. Does that overflow go back to the tank? I don't think I reconnected it but instead plugged it. Think this might be the ticking problem and does that really need to be connected?

Not sure I understand what you mean exactly, and I don't have a Raptor, but my Walbro returns thru it's own line into the fuel filler neck. I left the VP44 return line connected on the plastic fuel module on the tank. If you return your Raptor to that plastic fuel module, then the VP44 still has to have a place to return fuel. The VP44 will circulate fuel back to the tank and is itself, not a dead-end.

Not sure if that helps, but hopefully does.

The Raptor 100 doesn't have a return line. From what I've read on their site, it doesn't need one.

The factory return line must remain connected. This allows for bypass fuel from the overflow valve and the fuel not used by injectors to return from the back of the head.

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Were you running a prefilter? Seems they are sensitive to any junk hitting them.

no i installed it at the factory location becuase i was stuck on the highway.i think though if i get this raptor i may move my factory filter back to the frame rail, or get an aftermarket filter assembly and install the pump after the filter, i've killed almost 3 lift pumps in about a year, one pump due to biodiesel

What do you mean "due to biodiesel"? I run B5 or B20 all the time and never had a pump act different with it. Many guys have done the same. It's possible it freed up some junk that got into your pump and killed it that way, but that would be symptomatic, not a root cause from bio.

Just curious how you determined that or what you mean.

the first pump was a carter and the electric motor itself went out, the 2nd one was a carter and it wouldnt hold pressure about 5 psi after i put B-40 in. my guess is all the crap that the bio cleaned out ran thought the pump and killed it. the place i bought it from warrantied it and i got airtex and not cruising at 70 instead of being at 14psi i cant get it to hold over 6psi. i've stopped driving it due to the low pressure. sometimes at idle it will spring up to 16 psi but when i start to drive it dropes off very fast. and i know someone will say change your fuel filter and that got changed a week after the pump got changed

thanks for the review. i have been looking at them closely.

i had my bd pump (never buy it) shut down on me one morning when it was -50 when i first started it. i ran outside and shut the truck off once i checked my fuel pressure. i turned it off for a bit. checked all my wires and stuff and fuel filter and she started up with 14psi. but now she dosen't hold fuel pressure for hte life of her. i hit 1psi when i just ease onto the throttle sometimes and the truck just dosen't feel right since.

enough else have a raptor 150?

The Raptor 100 is an awsome pump. I installed mine a few days ago and WOW. At idle it's at 21.5 to 22 psi. Cruising is at 20 psi and at WOT it gets down to 16-17 psi. And thats with both of my Quad boxes at the highest levels.

Install was fairly simple. The only difficult part was avoiding the diesel shower while removing the old fuel pump system. Which BTW, I wasn't too successful at doing. Oh well, I really don't mind the smell of ol' #2.

EDIT: And quiet. The Raptor is a very quiet pump. From the cab, I wouldn't have even known it was running if it wasn't for the fuel pressure gauge.
