Question about twins...
Ok, If I were to run a hx35/S400 or HT3B combo on my truck, could I run 12's through the 1/4 with say a max of 1450* EGT's, and still have a very useable 400hp for towing? It seems to me like big singles just like to run hot cruising around and it is hard to haul with them and use much of the power because they get hot easy. Would a twins setup take care of that? I'm just not sure what direction I want to go with my truck. I want it to have fairly quick spoolup, and be able to have a useable 400-450hp for towing without it getting too hot. Is there a need for blow off valves with a 35/S400 or 3B stup, or do they seem to run fine without a wastegate? I just cant decide what i want really. It will be a while, just trying to figure out what would be good on my truck. heck the stock turbo may be on the thing by itself from now on, but I can dream cant I[laugh]

RowJ is running 12's on BD twins. I can testify that the BD twins spool awesome and keep things nice and cool towing....I have a 6 speed though. The twins you are tallking about should move a little more air than the BD's. Not sure how they'll spool though....just fine probably. I'd think you'll have to go into your transmission and go full billet if you are planning on drag racing and getting into the 12's. I think you'll burn some clutch packs otherwise or break shafts.

Yeah, I know my transmission will need to be built up the rest of the way with billet parts[laugh] That is the next big thing on the list. I just am not real impressed with the big singles I have been around so far. I did think about just going ahead and running a helix 2 cam, ported head, and a BD super B by itself, or a SPS62 or something. Im not sure how much power I want yet. Guess im just gathering info for when I have enough fuel, and a built transmission to handle it[dummy]

I think i could easily run mid 13's with a Super B, a cam, tranny, and some more fuel[coffee] Heck, maybe low 13's, so I may just do that. Man, I missed the fact that yours is a 12v. Sorry to have relayed an example of someone running 12's with the BD twins on a 24v. Still though, they should run great on a 12v and help keep it cool towing. Whether they'll be enough to get you in the 12's, I don't know. I'd think they would, but I can't think of an example of someone doing so. Didn't mean to mislead.

Yeah, my truck is light. Even with me in it weighing 320lbs, it is only about 6500lbs full of fuel. There was a guy on here that had a 94 just like mine that ran a 13 on a stock turbo, so I think with even small twins, 12's would be possible. I should be in the high 14's right now. I havent been to the 1320 since it closed for the winter, and I have done some tweaking since then.

i run a 16cm hx 40 on top and a bht3e on the bottom and it tows fine. i just towed a quad cab half ton back from nashville and it suprised me how cool the truck ran. i never got it to 1000 degrees, and this is with 3.55 gears and a auto. i am going to pull these twins off and put them on my dually. then i am going to build a big set for the little truck.

Chris Bottom line, on a 12v and all that fuel you'll have on tap, the BD super B twins should keep you reasonably cool. I would think twins of some sort would be the best answer towing with a modified 12v. I think you're on the right track. |

HTT 62/13/71 series with a k31 under that i have a 24 but we built my rich neighbors truck 12 valve 4door short bed. i did the twins on his truck and you caqn build them reasonably and they tow ostem and when you want to throw down the big #s you put a s400 down below. i origionaly had a 64/14 on top and i still towed really well. because of the k31. pm me for some info.

Twins are the answer for towing and for quick spoolup .... daily driving and at the track.
But maybe I missed something. I just don't see a 400-450 hp CTD getting into the 12's.... even a light one with billet tranny and 20 psi launches. Anyone disagree?? RJ |
a 6500lbs reg cab doing 4x4 launches will be very close to 12's at 450hp.
there are some heavier quad cabs with right around 500hp breaking into the 12's with the right tranny to put the power down. |

Anyone disagree?? RJ I've seen some 12v's running modified 160 and 180 pumps get into the 12's. Not sure what their hp was, but they were strong running trucks. I think Garmon had helped them. |
