Hey, im confused here, bought a 98 truck that came with a bully dog torque dog (made in 2001) it looks just like this one: just labeled torque dog

the one in the pic is a power puck!
it gives ok power for the price of it and 0 smoke

Need more info on the question you have lol. From what I've seen though the Bully Dog doesn't look just like that puck you've got in the pic. I've seen the Bully Dogs and they're kinda square and thin or so.

Hink - question for you. The Bully Dog Torque Dog says it's adjustable on the fly. How are you able to do that when it's under the hood??? I just ordered one and am a little curious about that part of it. There's 3 settings I know, and the highest is 65hp right? I saw one that was 90hp but I think is for the 3rd gens. Any info on that would help, thanks!

 

Oh, and no I didn't buy it not knowing anything about it, but I read a lot of info on it and it was kinda unclear in some areas of it especially any differences on the models and stuff. Was that yours? How did you like the performance of it. And where did you plug it into, it gave me a list of several options of connecting it depending on the year of it?? I saw a close up of that picture and see that toggle switch. What do you think about running some sort of stack with that? Like the Smarty? Thanks!!!

 

Holy Cow man, slow down. IIRC, it is OFF-35-65hp. Mount the box under the hood and run the wires with the toggle switch connected to it inside and mount it somewhere. When I did mine, I just ran it through the bracket for my brake controller and let it hang there. After while, I just pulled it back into the engine compartment and coiled it up and stuck it in a safe place. Who needs off or low?? I ran mine on the high setting all the time. It will plug into the MAP sensor and the CAN BUS plugs. I had the B/Dog, an XZT+ and an Edge EZ. Out of all 3 I liked the B/Dog the best. I felt that it had the best power and the smoothest power out of all of them. The XZT+ has good power also, but there was a major surging problem (i think quad has that fixed now though). The EZ was ok, but you could tell it was a timing only box, the power just didn't feel as good as the B/Dog. I'm not sure you can stack it with a Smarty since they both do the same thing. I think you would need to stack it with a "fuel only" or a wire tap box of some sort. Whew, I think I answered all of ur ?'s.

 

Sorry about that lol lol. Anyway, yeah you got all the questions answered. I posted a thread about what to stack it with. Yeah that's what I didn't know, cause they mentioned nothing or not pics of the toggle. I've talked with a few more and they said the same as far as good power real noticable. I'm coming off the Edge Juice though, but I've even heard you can tell even from that!!! I guess more usable power or better torque curves or something. I really want to stack it with something instead of doing injectors right now, and I might be able to get by with the stock turbo even if I stack it. I need to try to. I can't think of a box off the top of my head that does fuel only though. I know they're out there I just can't think lol. Thanks!!!

 

No problem, glad to help. A Quadzilla Xzillaraider or a TST box or a Redline Blue Chip box are a few fuel only boxes that come to mind.

 

Oh really, those will work good with it? I thought most those needed to plug into some of the same stuff as the Torque Dog. I'm real excited now!!! So those ones don't do anything really electronically, just add more fuel?? The Torque Dog does the timing? That's real great!

That really really helped me out, now I just need to find one that will be a good compliment to the other and not need another turbo real soon anyway lol.

 

Your Torque Dog will feel like a dog compared to a Juice w attitude. No comparison between the two.

 

Ok just looked into Quad, the only thing in there for my truck is the XZT. But it plugs into the MAP, and data link. The torque dog needs the MAP also, so I guess that one wouldn't work. It said the XZT did timing and fuel.

 

I agree. with my edge I felt a lot more power. can you stack edge juice w/ att with the Torque Dog?

 

Nope, cause they both use the MAP(unless you don't have to plug one in) and the Edge uses the Data Link and I think the Torque Dog does as well. I'm trying to find something to stack with the Torque Dog though.
