OPINONS PLEASE: hot rod or monster
come time for injection pump time I will not be doing a P-pump unfortunately due to certain constraints that I will not discuss at this time
. That being said I would like some opinions on what you folks think of the hot rod vp or the monster vp or even possibly what you dont like about either on its all constructive criticism the way I see it

I agree with what Tate said. The gains with the "hot" VP's are minimal and the driveability is not all that good especially on the automatics. IMHO, I don't think think the durability is all that good either.

what do you mean by drive ability, what does it do, cuz i do realize that the p-pump is so favorable but..... I wish I could snap my fingers and have my truck p-pumped ha ha inno I knew a guy who had a HRVP and it seemed to work good of course i only rode in it once.

Another guy out here had the same pump as me, same issues. Keep in mind, this was back in '06/'07, when the HRVP's were new and hot on the scene, albeit much cheaper than I have seen them in the past. Have they improved since then? Possibly. But with a p-pump, you know where you stand. And if you're looking at a HRVP or monster pump, you can afford to p-pump it.

Buy the conversion kit for less than $1600? No. Buy a 12v for less than $1600? Absolutely. Rob all the parts off of it that you need, then pay the $500 for the lines. Sell working VP parts and remainder of 12 parts, you'll recoup most of your money. There are guys who've made money on this process. Thats how I'll be doing my next conversion, minus the selling of parts. Its nice to have spare blocks and rotating assemblies laying around.

hey not trying to hijack the thread but i have a question about p-pumping a 24V. A friend had a 12V in a tow truck blow up the block is junk i assume the pump is still good. My question is what years can you use that will work in a 24v, the tow truck is like a 86 or 88 ford but it is a cummins motor i am just not possitive about what the pump is. Tate i appreciate any advice in advance you always seem to have alot of good info.

I bought my conversion kit from Schied's back in early '07. I bought it just after it went from $1600 to $1788. I think its gone up since then, but I haven't looked lately, had no need. Up here, engines seem to go for $2k for a running take out. If you can find one that spit a rod or cracked a block or melted a piston, all the better. That being said, you could probably get some good money for the parts. Or look on e-bay and other classifieds for the individual parts.

I have never seen a p-pump conversion go for less than 1600 BUT thats not including the pump
