OFE Wont Disengage
Today I slipped my sb ofe 13.125 badly pulling a 13,000 5er up a steep hill from a stop. Now the clutch wont disengage. To get into a different gear I have to adjust rpms and jam into gear. I called south bend and they though that it might have warped something, and that in the morning it should be better. Anyone else ever had this happen to them. Im just afraid that it might have warped to much( it did slip badly)

How does the pedal feel? I might of broke a spring in the disk and got lodged in the pressure plate not allowing it to release. Maybe it bent the t/o arm. Let us know what you find. Good luck!

The pedal feels fine just wont completly let go.

Personally, I thin that is an absurb answer to give you.... It will be fine in the morning......
And I thought that an OFE would never slip with just the mods you have...... Oh oh better look out, start talking bad about SB here and youll get kicked off..... I hope its ok for you... good luck, keep us posted.. Zino |
Zino: He said he slipped it while pulling a trailer from stop uphill.
The notion that it can be better in the morning is not absurd. Flywheels and the rest of the assembly can take ages to cool down and unwarp. If you overheated the clutch the pilot bearing can also seize up... this wouldn't be the clutch itself that's defective, but it will feel like a clutch not separating. HTH AlpineRAM |
My Fe will sometimes not completely disengage, but I think it's got something to do with the twisted input shaft more than the clutch. :(

It is not toally uncommon for a clutch that has been slipped and absorbed a lot of heat to not want to disengage. Typically once they have a chance to cool down the will disengage normally.

Well this morning everything was the same. But I pushed the clutch to the floor and shifted to 3 and gave it a little pedal and thats all it took. It must have slipped bad enouth to weld the clutch to the flywheel. All is good now though. Better be a little more careful next time. Thanks for all the ideas. Joel
