Newbie Q's

I know how to use the search thread but did not come up with a definitve answer.

I have a 94 basicaly stock truck. Just left a Diesel performance shop, I am scheduled to have a "10" plate installed for the injectors. Next step he said would be the 4" exhaust. After that he said would need a gauge cluster and lots of cash. Does this sound like like the right start?

I believe the majority would reccomend gauges before installing a fuel plate...

mods.

I think gauges 1st also, then trans, before horse power , both the A.T.& Man. have things to be addressed before much H.P. is added, go to user control pannel and fill in the specs. on truck so we know what you"ve got , makes it easyer to help you , then edit as you make mods.

You can spend much less by installing a #10 plate yourself and feelling good about it. It is fun to tell people that you did it yourself and know how to work on a diesel. Most people feel scared, but its just nuts and bolts lol..

good luck

just my .002

Manual trans. Open rear end, which I hate.

Wow what a feeling. That #10 makes a world of difference.

BUT, he showed me where #1 cylinder exhaust gasket was blown and said that the manifold shrunk. Said early truck manifold has low nickel content and allowed them to shrink. The manifold bolts were actually bent towards the middle. Also said that the fuel return valve was bad. Banjo fitting on the back side of the injector rack. Are these problems common?

Yes, these are common problems. ATS and one other company (can't remember who) make 3-piece manifolds to cure that problem, and the overflow valve happens also, hopefully Infidel will chime in and tell you where to get one inexpensively.

60 psi is what I run, it is easy to get over 35 psi with a #10 plate, at least if it's forward a bit.
