Need some performance tips

My brother has a 96 2500 CTD, with 285 injectors, tweeked pump, and 4in exhaust. I would like to know what else we can do ourselves to get more power. The bad thing is the guy that had before put a bigger torque convertor on it and it takes a lot of power to get it moving. Comments welcome

Re:Need some performance tips

Twins would probably to the trick, but would it hurt the motor if you put another turbo on it (160k miles). I told him to put a different turbo housing on it and he kicked it around for a while but no response. I think hes afraid of burning it up.

Another hand, how do you like your 95 CTD? I had one same year, auto, with 285 inj. tweeked pump, 12cm housing, 4in exhaust #6 plate, tranny upgrades, Apillar triple gauges, boost, pyro, tranny, F-er ran.

Im not sure how much more power you are looking for.
If all you want is a little more oomph off the line, then you may want to consider turning up the star wheel and some kind of air filter system (Scotty II, AFE Mega Cannon, K&N, BHAF, etc)

Rich.

Re:Need some performance tips

tell us where you want to end up. are answer for it will differ a lot when it comes to which HP you want. anything up to 350HP a stock turbo with a 16cm housing wii work fine. get over 350 and you might want to look at a HX-40 or ATS hybrid turbo. I would dump the small 285inj and get the 370"s with a #7 plate. then you will have to deal with the tranny and so on and so on. DM01

Re:Need some performance tips

We want it to get out of the hole faster, and more response when you mash on it. It doesnt shift down when you nail it.

Re:Need some performance tips

look into a different TC for the tranny. better holes shot. Hmm you do know that diesels do need a sec to get rid of the turbo lag. If you want to get a good hole shot twins and maybe some drugs would get you there. but your going to get into the money there.
DM01

Re:Need some performance tips

I know that diesels have the lag, but I had a 95 that, when you built boost (10psi off the line), you would fly out of the hole, after warming up the tires. Weve tried the same thing in my brothers truck and it doesn't responed any better.
