Mileage with 5 micron filter on FASS

Ok, been waiting to see what the mileage would be. I have the Baldwin five micron filter on the FASS system. Bear in mind that I recycle my engine oil through the tank every 7000 miles. I have right at 38,000 miles on it and the pressure has dropped three or four pounds, to 14 or 15 wot. Actually there is no difference between wot, idle, and cruise of any substance. Normal is 18 to 20 when first started and stays at 18 while running with a clean filter.

I have no complaints, the filter is $17 bucks at any local truck supply and takes at least two minutes to install. No prefilling, just slap it on, cycle it a couple of times till the pressure comes up, start it up. I no longer even carry a spare, just get one when I need one.

You got the part numbers for both filters handy by any chance?

There is only one filter. The one I am using is BT372-MPG. The FASS material has it misquoted as a 12 micron but it is a 5. The other "filter" is a seperator/screen and does not need to be changed normally. It can be taken off, washed out with clean diesel, put some in, shake it around and drain it till it is clean. FASS also has the price at $63.88 when it only costs $17 at a truck supply. These are hydraulic filters and I would guess that there are dozens that would fit if you went through a bunch of them.

Cool. I haven't even looked at them since Keith put them on. I do know the one has a drain valve on it. I'm assuming that is the seperator.

Joel, we have a huge Baldwin dealer by us. I can get the bt-372mpg for about $11 if you need one. I have changed mine once in 15mos. If you need a filter I will bring one this weekend. Tim
