My Superchipped '99 lit up "check engine", I got the low voltage/low boost code which I took to mean bad MAP sensor. My boost gauge reads good, but there's a big flat spot @mid throttle, low/high rpm, starting & mpg are OK. Haven't seen the business end of the sensor, does cleaning it ever work ? It seems to be a dealer only part @ $117 + contribution to the gov. who won't send an adviser to hold my trouble light. I see someone called it a "boost sensor", is there an aftermarket replacement ? Here I am, replying to myself It just occurred to me that an enterprizing individual might "hot wire" (fed.emissions law violation? wouldn't want to run afoul of the fed !) the MAP plug on a stock engine, maybe use a resistor or a potentiometer to get the desired voltage (which I think is listed in my MIA Haynes manual) Any thoughts out there ?

Do you need to put somthing bak in the map sensor hole like a bolt or somthing?

 

You don't take the sensor out, just unplug the pigtail.

 

I did this on my 05 and all it did was put the truck in limp mode.
