Mack Plug

I saw a post here somewhere about changing out the plug on the front of the pump for more rack travel...[guitar]

Does anyone know where I can find a part number? and who to get it from?

I have tried searching, which didn't turn up anything...[dummy]

You have to remove the pump or do some big time grinding on the timing case to completely switch out the plug. Some guys are just putting a .030 washer around the plug to shim it out. I don't know a part number though.

You can do more to the AFC

you dont need to swap out the plug at all..

Please elaborate on this. I do have the AFC spring kit with the lighter spring.

The pump is being pulled to upgrade and bench test.....

Dont put the mack plug in your 215 pump, you will lose power due to the design of the helix on the plungers, too much rack travel will make the barrels spill over with fuel and just cause more smoke and put out the fire. Put in the light AFC spring that you got and do some adjusting and tuning on the AFC. That will give you a lot right there.

I put a piece of copper wire around the plug that shimmed it out 2mm... Been like that for a few months and not a single leak...

I have read this many times but.....
When Harry at PDR did the washer mod on his truck it netted 23hp with no other changes.
His truck was at 570hp and went to 593hp just by adding a .030" washer ( yes its a 913 pump) so...?
I understand that 16mm off rack travel causes the pump to pull back timing but doesnt the retard notch just spill off the timing that is in the initial plunger rotation and rotate them back? I put the plug on my pump and found the temps to be very high at full forward with a 100 plate but sliding it back a wee bit made them managable (1400@WOT on the dyno) but at full forward it did seem to have more power and alot more smoke? I really dont know how much the rack was traveling at that point.
