looking at the next upgrade...

I am looking for some more power. What would be the next step?

1. I am thinking on upgrading to the 4000 gsk with the 60 springs

2. changing the turbo housings... ( I am not sure about the housing though)

I just want to get some more power. I do not want to buy a new turbo because the money is right now. I want more off the line and more up top. I think if I go with the springs it will give more throttle off the line and more pull at the top on highway speeds. I also think maybe I could change the housing for more flow. Stock is to restrictive. I can hit 1600 I know is way to high. If I am pulling a car on a dolly. I am just seeing what I can do.

thanks

i went from the 3 to the 4 gsk two weeks ago and it made a big difference through out the hole rpm range, but with your fuel you really need a turbo, with the 4k you going to be even hotter if you twist it that high...

I have a auto. It will only pull to 2500 since it will shift. When on the hwy it seems to just slow down once you get to the higher speeds.

I think this is what I am looking for at least from a dead stop. If i am right the stock to 3000 feels like you use half throttle so the 4000 should be like using 1/4 throttle.

I think you are right on the turbo because it will get me more but I run to hot. I was thinking on getting the bigger exhaust housing maybe a 62...not sure though...

JKauto you have the numbers backwards. 62 would be the input side. Exhaust sides typically run stock (9cm) 12, some 13, 14, and 16. some bigger but unneeded in most non super serious racing/pulling cases. 12 or 14cm will keep you in a good spool time range anything bigger and you'll prob be blowin alot of black smoke till you finally take off. But when you do take off, Your gone!

Sorry about that. I am not to fimiliar on what is what with a turbo. I just know one of the upgrade I see listed is a 62mm housing. I am not sure much after that. It is a bolt on an should flow 300 cfm of air more over stock.

if you want it to take off better put a plate in it and tune the afc

thats what its for

you can grind the plate to any profile you want

they also make a med and a light spring for the diaphram

the only way its gonna run right up top is with a different turbo

don

thanks for the info....but...

I ran a number 6 and stock plate with and without the afc and with the acf moved all over.

I found out that I get more with it setup this way. I tried tuning the afc but I just lose bottom end with it all together. Yet it might help me with fuel mileage and such but I did different pulls with different combos. So basically with stock plate,6 plate, and no plate I gained the most with not plate. With the afc I tried tuning it and tuning it and found out I gain the most with it gutted. Yes it will smoke but once the turbo lights it clears right up. I am not going to argue about this because I keep hearing about a tuned afc housing will run better than a gutted afc housing. I tried and tried different switches and found this gives me the most torque/hp on the takeoff but I need more. There is no lag of the turbo except the 1 sec than pegs the 35 mark. I just want more.....

I can only hang with the evo 9's till about 60 mph then they can get me but hey it is a 8000 pound truck. I just need some more to see where I stand then go from there.
