Lift pump alternatives??

Has anybody tried the Airtex #E7153 at O'reilleys or the Delphi pump at Dieselspecialists.net? Mines starting to loose pressure and I'm thinking about retiring it to a spare.

I have a Delphi, it doesn't have any "better" performance than the stock one, just supposed to be more reliable and last longer. I still had to back it up with a Holly booster pump to keep the edge from pulling the fuel pressure down.

I just did the same thing, replaced my existing pump while it still would work as a spare. Went with the delphi pump. I am pulling my trailer in a couple of weeks so I will know for sure then what I think of this pump. So far around 14 idle, 10-11 pulling hard, can get under 10 if I stand on it. If I am not satisfied with the numbers after I pull the trailer I will probably add a pusher pump as others here have already done. Still contemplating whether or not that will still provide pressure when one is out but I have little doubt the pressure will be higher.

I bought the Airtex from O'reilley Auto Parts...opened it up...it says Carter on it, so it's the exact same pump. After a couple days it's the same old thing...~12 psi @ idle and I can suck it down to 5 psi if I rev it out. This will get me by to go pick up my brand new 37' travel trailer today, but I'm going with the Walbro setup from Glacier Diesel before we head out for vacation.

I used the Airtex for about 5 months and it worked fine. 14 PSI idle, 10 WOT. Bought a FASS HPFP and sold the Airtex on Ebay.

The Vulcan kit will also help to keep the pressure up above 10 with the stock pump. Reduces banjo bolt line restrictions.

There has been a change on the Airtex model E7153. Originally it was just a repackaged carter unit. But about six months ago Airtex, which is an OE fuel pump manufacturer decided to make their own pump to replace the carter unit. This new pump is designed similar to the walbro pump, but is a direct bolt on replacement for the stock location carter unit. I talked with a technician at Airtex today and he tells me this is a vast improvement. They got tired of replacing the darn carter units under warranty. It was taking their reputation down also. Here is the catch: Autozone and O'Reilly's both sell these units, but you have to open the box to make sure it is not old stock. You will be able to tell because much to your dismay it will be a carter unit if it is old stock.

I agree.
That's why I purchased a Glacier/Walbro system.

Now 20 psi @ idle, & 17psi @ WOT.

Same here...I took that Airtex (Carter) back to OReilley's and got a refund to help fund the Glacier setup. Did away with that whole factory setup with the Walbro on the frame rail and ever since I've had 20 psi at idle and can't get it below 16 psi at WOT. Well worth the money and time to install!!!

Stock ORIGINAL lift pump on my 01. 13-14 at idle and can pull it down to 4-6 on a hard pull.

How do you tell the diffrrence between the AirTex and Carter? What do they cost?
A huge maket certainly exists for a better stock LP. Perhaps the new AirTex is the long awaited Gen2 fix a a reasonable cost?

I have been searching for the Airtex replacement at the stores, but since it just came out, most stores still have the rebadged carter unit. Does anyone have one installed yet?
