Let me learn from your trials (and errors?): New Smarty Settings?

Got the new load for my Smarty (Thanks Bob )
I normally set the Smarty at SW7. Given the mods in my sig, and the Smarty at SW7, what would you guys suggest for TM, Timing and Duration?

Thanks,
~Rob

Setting the TM up a little ways will help driveability, especially with a trailer. Impact to the driveline can be brutal driving a smarty on kill when towing.

I'd put the timing at the second most aggressive setting.

Duration you can max out.

You'd surprised how you'll come to love SW#3 if you use that setting for a length of time. I almost never miss the higher SWs anymore, but then I have a little larger injectors that overfuel on bottom pretty easily.

With my set up I like SW3 also but I run timing on 3, everything else on default. Still have alot of playing to do with the REVO.

so you use sw#3 tm# 5 or 6? timing #2, duration #6?

and this is as good as higher sw's?

im running sw#5 TM#5, timing#2, duration #5.

i like this but it smokes alot at low rpms if im not careful. not taking off, just other times when getting on it with low boost.

this same setting with timing on sw#3, smoked alot less.

I am running sw#5 with tq 3 time 2 dur 3 with the tq turned up much more things get abrupt with the manual trans. Running the dur up to 3 helped to light the turbos a little quicker

Experiment 1:

Level 7
TM 3
Timing 3
Duration 5

Woo whoo. I am all smiles with these settings and my bombs. Truck seems much more driveable in 1st/2nd gear in slow speed situations like parking lots. Going through the parking lot at work, which has a bit of a heave to it would cause the throttle foot to bounce and it felt as if the truck was bucking when in 1st or if I was in 2nd, it would be sluggish. These settings took care of that.
Ok, enough of slow speed
Turbo lights much quicker, no where near as much smoke down low and the thing just hauls (as much as my puny mods will allow). Smoke is still able to be commanded byt the right foot, but I am happier without it. Feels like it fuels to redline Punch it in 5th gear and it will take off. Excellent work Marco.

Hmmm...I'll have to give this a try. Still playing with the default settings on #7 getting a feel for these bigger sticks. Definitely need to find something less jumpy at low speed...

Jim

a streetable tune would be to have them turned down like diesel doc has his.

today i ran sw#5 and #4 for everything tm,timing, and duration. i liked it but it was missing on top past 2500, not sure what was causing it.

so i set it back the timing to #2 and i couldnt get it to do it. not sure whats going on there.

i think im gonna put it on sw#5 on default everything, since i liked sw#5 before the update.

Hohn i was looking at the smarty settings and noticed that sw#3 is the same as #5 minus the timing. since your adding timing its basically the same sw? just wondering what you thought.

Last night I ran truck SW3, Timing3 like DD the truck. Turned on the TST Comp and it surged something awful. Set timing back to default with TST and truck run strong as usual. TST does no seem to like the timming advanced that far. Going to try it with more duration and see how it acts.

i ran sw#5 all settings on default and it was much better than me messing with the options.

i think the only people that should mess with the options are big stix people (200+hp) or manual trannys that buck in lower gears. JMO
