laddar bars

im planing to build some laddar bars, i may pull a few times this summer and i pull trailers several times a week on the farm so they have to be adjustable so heres what i was thinking

2 top links, cut them in half weld in steel water line and make them long enough to reach the cab,(i would guess 4 or 5 ft) there is enough u bolt on the axle to bold the mounting plate on the back and ther is 2 holes in the frame behind the t-case if i rembmember right, the truck is in the body shop right now so i cant go out and look at it lol(**** deer)

if anybody has made a set of bars like this or has any ideas or sugestions please let me know

there's a guy w/a 1st gen who made some just like this. I'm working on the same design but am trying to find the correct size/schedule steel pipe where the toplink will fit just inside and then weld them. Send me your email and I'll send you what I have received from this other guy.

I used 2 Hiem joints from Tractor supply and 2" pipe... they are 54" eye to eye with plenty of adjustment either way. I made some simple brackets and welded them to the bottom of the frame on the front and to the bottom of the U-bolt plate in the rear. Looks good... was simple and cost about $75.00

I have been rounding up supplies to build a set myself. I've done alot if research on the subject & I've been told that DOM [drawn over mandrel] tubing is the only tubing strong enough for the job. It has no seem & everyone recommends atleast a 1/4" wall thickness, but 1/2" is preferred.
