ISSPRO IV fuel pressure guage install question.

I'm planning on installing my new guage this weekend and it doesn't come with any instructions. It looks very simple except I'm not sure where on the fuel filter canister to connect it to. I also got the banjo bolts from Wildcat Diesel and am wondering if these will be easy to get to and change out. They also have no directions. I just like to be prepared before i start a project.

I just put my Isspro fuel gauge in that I got from Rod yesterday.I put it on the bottom of canister like Rod said to. Worked slick. I did drill a hole in my firewall and ran my fuel line and pyro wire through and now I have a loud engine noise in cab. I tried to seal the hole up It all most sounds like air in the fuel system or injector. But I think Its just because I pulled the insulation back a little and drilled an oversized hole. I cracked the fuel filter cap to day and bled it,still noisey.Other than that It took about 5min to install. Jake

Like Bulldozer said. From the bottom of the fuel filter. Use the major grommet and fuel line will go thru NP. I ran my SS braided line thru there also along with a lot of other stuff, 2HIlow, Comp wiring, EGT, boost etc. You will have to make additional slices in it but so what. Noise is from that area is not my problem as I have a Scotty II cowl opening and can only hear my turbo.

This is a pic of my '99 mechanical guage install.
The pic shows the pick-up on the pre-filter plug in the top of the filter housing. Use the one closest to the front for after-filter pressure.

Isspro FP guage

The needle valve is to restrict the flow to the guage to prevent "Buzzing" in the guage. The pressure still reads fine.
I installed the guage & line with the needle valve in place.
To set it up with the needle valve, just close off the valve completely, start the truck and have someone watch the guage, slowly open the valve, stop turning as soon as the pressure reads normal. Shut down to verify that the pressure bleeds off, start again to ensure pressure reads correctly.
Presto.....you now can drive knowing that your fuel pressure is good and your lift pump is supplying plently of fresh cool fuel to keep your injection pump happy. ;D

Re:ISSPRO IV fuel pressure guage install question.

Thanks guys. I think I will be hooking up the guage post-filter as I think my new filter is too restrictive. I'm gonna buy a NAPA filter and check the difference and will post the results here. Is there any advantage to hooking the guage up on top versus below the canister? If not, why wouldn't I do the easy hookup on top???

The 99's had the guage hook-up on top, and a "Bottom-Load" design canister.
They changed the filter canister design in 2000 so their filter is a 'Top-Load" and their pick-up point is underneath.

What exactly is happening in Joppa next weekend? I wish it was this weekend as the wife and daughter are out of town. That's why I'll be plugging away on the truck. I work in Alexandria on Edsall Road..
