I just installed a CFM+ intake on my truck. It runs slightly cooler EGTs and spools a little quicker, not very noticable though.

IMO, the CTD air intake works off pressure build up...not smooth air flow! Look at where it goes after the air horn; into the head and then turns 90* abruptly! How is better air flow going to be an advantage before the head?
But those things sure do look sexy.

With more boost you are going to notice a slight drop. Same here.

I've always wanted a Banks Twin Ram but that was for the looks only.

So your boost went up after you added a aftermarket intake manifold?

I did, if it was me I wouldn't worry about that little bit of boost gain just to get one.

Rowland's right - while improving laminar flow, reducing turbulence and increasing velocity in an intake duct/manifold is never a bad thing, dry flow intake systems are much more tolerant of turns & irregularities which would cause fuel atomization/distribution problems in a wet-flow design; and of course, pressurized induction systems just don't respond as well to airflow mods as a normally aspirated engine's intake tract would.

IMO, if you're looking for that last few % of VE - a better air filter design, airhorn, intake manifold (need to machine the Cummins one off the side of the head!) and head porting are all great mods!

I'm no expert but if you gained boost, you have just added yourself a nice restriction What manifold did you get?

I changed the intake on my 98 12v to a Banks Twin Ram.
I gained zero HP on the Dyno-Jet over the factory unit. What I did gain though was better equalization of the EGT's between the front 3 cylinders and the rear 3 cylinders.I run gauges in both sets of cylinders and instead of them varying 100-150 degrees front 3 to rear 3,they are only off about 50 degrees between them.It was worth the skinned knuckles installing it for what I gained.....Andy

Below is a shot of it on my motor.

Hammer nice pic! Far as the intake I got my dad's friend to machine off the intake side of the head and sent it out ExtrudeHone for some work. Currently working on my own intake design. What to add a spray bar in there for nitrous, propane, or water/meth. What to aim the directly into the intake ports. Go the idea from my Cummins generater I got at the cowpens to run the hydrualic catcher shoot, building, and anything else. The intake covers the whole area where the intake ports are. When I first ordered it I thouught why doesn't my truck look like this??? So that give me the idea to fab up my own and experienment a little. Good thin the old lady is a gear as well or I would be allowed to buy any of this stuff!

Hammer are those the tock injection lines? If so how did you get them to shine like that? Like the red paint to. I'm using the new cummins red paint for my motor. Also you got a part number on those valve covers. That is pretty good looking!
