Which injectors would be best?

im new to the diesel world. I'm replacing the head gasket because of a coolant leak under the thermostat. The truck is a 96 3500 ram. 5spd intercooled 215 12v hx35w turbo. I'm just looking for a bit more power. I'm installing ARP head bolts, I've ordered DDP stage 1 injectors because that's what the shop here recommended, but I'm not sure I trust their judgment. I've heard the piston bowls are different size and take different spray angles. I can't find any info on the injector spray angles. Also Is it 50 hp over 180 if it's a 180 pump, and 50 over 215 hp if it's a 215 pump?

Many have run the marine injectors which provide similar hp power gains as you noted. I can't recall if Formula Mach1 provides 12v injectors but I run them in my 24v and wouldn't change a thing...unless upgrading to their 2.0. From what I recall, DDP makes a good quality injector and going to a 90hp injector setup should be acceptable with the turbo you have. In any regard, think quality, not quantity in an injector upgrade and you'll be much happier....even if you have to wait to spend more on them.

Completely depends on your power goals.

I only have Bosch 215's in my truck and I made 309/751 rear wheel HP.

That's with an unopened pump, besides a plate and timing.

I've since added 181 DV's so I may be within a few HP of 400 at the crank.

If you do not have gauges, that must be your first step.

Do a lot of reading here and make some smart decisions and learn from our mistakes too.

I started with RV275's by Bosch and was happy with the improvement but later bought a set of plus 100 hp and was even happier. Bang for the buck goes to RV275's since they are relatively more affordable but the plus 100's give a bigger smile. BTW, I say Bosh because the first set of RV's i bought were no-name and they were junk.

This is a 12 valve.

Ooops. Kindly disregard.

Need to know the nozzle size to really figure out what kind of power you can make. Your stock injectors are 5x.010 at 145° spray angle, 180hp pumps came with 5x.009. Keep the spray angle stock and some 5x.012 or 5x.014 will let you tune it down to anywhere from stock to +100hp or more.

What is your current setup for timing, fuel plate, etc? Stock 215hp pump (as Ronco stated) is capable of some decent power.
