They say we cummins owners cant have a shaker hood, and in my opinion there is nothing better than a shaker in looks.

why couldnt someone make a thin box that bolts to the top of the valve covers and uses thier top shaker scoop then taper it down and run a duct over to a seperate fender mounted filter box like a Scotty II or something instead of cutting the hole in the Cowl or what ever i wouldnt think that an easily removed tube and a single stud holding the shaker and air collector box down to the valve cover would be so much cluter that it couldnt be removed easily. Even at a couple of inches thick the box wouldnt have to house a filter though it would be nice, but should be able to squeeze between the hood and valve covers and give the look and be functional?

Thoughts or am i just going to have to find a tin worker some day to make something like that

I saw that shaker hood a LONG time ago....sat there and thought....man I wish I could make that work on a CTD!:(

I don't think the small openings in the "Stock-looking" shaker scoop could move enough air to feed the Cummins at Full-Boogie.
It would probably suck it inside out.[eyecrazy] [laugh]

Check here for real working ram air hoods for the second gens. http://dpofutah.tripod.com/id39.htm

Doug Hofeldt also builds a producd called the Dam Ramair which takes air from ducts in the air dam up to the air cleaner box.

Did someone call me?

I actually spoke with Doug a very long time ago about helping with some of his parts underhood. I provided him with some info and never heard anything back.

I looked at that baby shaker and had it in hand here and found exactly what Ed Shovelhed sed...its not gonna catch enough air and a vast amount of the air at highway speeds will deflect off the front and over the scoop.

Scotty

Hoot? [laugh]

Interesting, theres the man with the answers.

Scotty who who who:D

Scotty when you had the baby shaker in hand did it appear that there was enough room to mount it on top of the engine though? i might be able to modify it so your box can still feed off my cowl and maybe instead of feeding from my fender for the other inlet i could duct it into the shaker. ;)

Definately is a sharp setup though, you end up with something down the road, let me know[laugh]

It would take some plumbing and some designing but anything is possible.

Yeah I like the looks of that too.

Hmmmmmmm
