Man, I'm having a hard time finding a lift kit for my 2wd truck! Just looking for a reasonably priced 4-6" lift. If you know where I can find one please let me know. Thanks.

 

If you want 4-6" on a 2wd...save your money and buy a 4wd!!

Sorry, but that's the only way to to it.

IMO, 2" is MAX on a 2wd!

Depends on your definition of "reasonable". Nobody makes an off the shelf lift for 2500 2WD. A few guys have gone with coils or spacers, but that only nets about 2-3" of lift.

For 4-6" you'll have to go custom fabbed.

 

So you're one of those people... I can't afford to buy a new truck!


That sux, I can't believe no one makes a kit. I know there's really "no point" to lift a 2wd, but again, what's the point of lowering it? Better handling? Blah...

 

Even though I own a 4WD, I beg to differ.....depends on whether you just want lift or in you want the suspenion to perform. Here in California at least, the vast majority of off road driven trucks are 2WD. Granted most of them are 1/2 tons and mini trucks......not too many folks pre-running races with 3/4 ton diesels. Too much work and $$ to get them to perform. That diesel adds 400-500+ lbs over the smaller aluminum V-6's and 8's.

I very seldom have to put mine in 4WD.

It depends alot on what your intended usage is. If you just want lift for bigger tires, I would suggest a body lift. 3" body lift is less than $100.

If you're looking for increased wheel travel and the ability to control it, you'll have to go custom fab.

Also keep in mind that most of the 4WD trucks on here have a "lift kit" that basically drops the front suspension but yields little if any additional wheel travel. All these kits do is provide more tire clearance. True performance suspension provides increased wheel travel and can result in increased ride height.

To give you an example, the Skyjunker 4.5" "lift kit with result in a ride height ~ 4-5" higher than stock, but only gives you another inch of wheel travel. Maybe two.
The KORE system only gives you another 2-3" in ride height, but you end up with more than twice as much wheel travel and the ability to control that travel.

My suspension is all custom fabbed, I have 2" more travel than the KORE system and 3" more ride height.

To give you an idea of the cost difference between form (looks) and function (performance)....the SJ 4.5" lift kit for a 4WD ranges from $1200 to 1800 (looks).
The KORE system IIRC ranges from ~$1800 to 3500, depending on which shocks you get. I have about $2600 in mine right now, which doesn't include labor or R&D. I still have to build new shock mounts for the rears and re-do the rear springs.

I know this doesn't really apply to your 2WD, but if you really want to "lift" it that bad, you need to decide why you want to lift it (performance or looks) and make an informed decision before you start throwing hard earned money at it.

 

I just want it for looks. I live in So. Cal too. I'd take a 3" lift. Can you tell me where/how I can get it for $100? I'd appreciate that.

 

I'm not one of those people...but I have lifted a 2wd, and I know there's a TON of work involved with going bigger than 2" on a 2wd!

2-1/2" is even too much for stock parts!

Oh hey... I just realized you're the same guy who posted in my other thread. You're running Hydro 7000's right? Did you ever end up getting the part numbers on those? And do you think those shocks are good for up to a 3" lift?

 

Nope...still looking for the part numbers. They way the shocks are mounted on the truck, I can't read them on there!!

And I can't seem to find the reciept for them either...I've got to rotate my tires today, I'll see if I can get in there a little better and read the numbers off them!!

3" body lift.....~$90 anywhere.

 

I just ordered a custom set of coils to lift the front 2 1/2 inches for around $200. I couldn't see using the spacers.

 

Is it cheaper cause you have a 4wd? Cause I don't think the 2wd stock shocks will go that high. And shocks alone cost more than that.


No rush... Just whenever you are able to get them. It doesn't matter that your truck is a 3500 and mine is a 2500 right?
